Ilooked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. I have done something," He replied. "I created you." ~ The Animals' Savior Copyright Jim Willis 1999

We have just gone through a few bad years losing my mother, two cats of old age, and my 12 year old snuggling, diet breaking, dog of cancer. My kids, my remaining 12-year-old dog Buddy, and I were lost and alone; after awhile we discussed getting another dog. Since all our other dogs had come from shelters or rescue organizations, we knew that we would choose another dog in need of a home. We had a Boston Terrier Schnauzer mix in the past and felt that another Boston Terrier is what we were looking for to add to our family. We found Midwest Boston Terrier rescue online and searched through the adoptees. The entire family liked a cute little two-year-old dog named Baxter. When we finally met Baxter it was love at first sight for all of us. Buddy had a little brother to play with and to take care of again. I think it added years to Buddy; he acts like a puppy again. Baxter was a bit shy of my husband John, but now he is John's little “Baxter boy”. He is my sons’ tug-of-war partner and my daughters undercover snuggle partner.
We cannot imagine our house without Baxter, he makes it complete. Thanks to everyone at Midwest Boston Terrier rescue for bringing us together.

After getting Baxter from MWBTR and settling him into his new home, we decided to adopt another Boston Terrier. Again we looked over the website for about a month and after several possibilities we were able to arrange a visit with Roboduex (a.k.a Rodo). So, we traveled 14 hours and a 1000 miles round trip bringing home a new 5 month old puppy. Our daughter renamed him Sebastian or Bastian for short. He is affectionately nicknamed “Poopie”, being a puppy it fit well, but the nickname stuck even after he settled into a normal routine.
Sebastian’s training has been good. We are glad we have two other dogs because of his seemingly endless energy, when we get tired of playing he turns his attention to one or both of them until he is ready for a quick nap, after which he starts all over again. Bastian has brought so much laughter and energy into our house everyday.
Thanks again MWBTR

My name is Kermit! My mom and dad saw my picture on the Petfinder website in February, 2008, and decided they just HAD to adopt me! I was rescued by MWBTR from a puppy mill that was downsizing. My new mom and dad picked me up from my foster home (12 hours round-trip…. Whew!) on Valentine’s Day weekend when I was only 8 weeks old and 4 pounds. They loved me instantly, and I have licked up all of their attention ever since (Boy, do I like to lick)! I am now almost 8 months old and 17 pounds, and have a giant amount of personality packed into my whirling, twirling little body! There are so many things I love to do that I would not have had the chance to experience if it were not for MWBTR.
I am an explorer and spend hours investigating my own backyard every day…. I hunt bugs, run laps, and lie on the deck in the sun (I love the sun, despite this furry tuxedo I’m wearing). I love to go hiking and play fetch with my mom and dad, and I love other dogs (my “trail buddies”) and anyone who will pay attention to me. My mom and dad had never had dogs before, I am their first, and they can’t believe how much fun I am. They took me to puppy class to learn how to talk to me and help me behave, and I was the star student! I know how to “sit,” “come,” lay “down,” and “stay” now, and mom and dad are working on teaching me “off” so that I don’t jump up on people when they come in our door (even though they want me to jump on them and lick them, I just know it!). My mom and dad crate-trained me and I am completely housebroken… even though I did have some accidents along the way (one on my dad’s lap and another in his laptop case… oops!) I love my home and my mom and dad are very thankful for your help!

My son and daughter-in-law recently adopted two Boston terriers from Midwest. After visiting them I was hooked! When I got home I neatly when to the web site and found a special dog initiate his name was Wrigley. My son drove us to Michigan to visit with Wrigley and bring him to his new home and gave him a new name, Barney. I think he has the house set up in the order that he likes, he has his father of well-trained to spoil him. Barney is great with all the grandkids and the neighbor kids. Barney loves to go to my sons house to play with his Boston terriers, sometimes I am afraid he will not want to come home, but he always does, with his little but wiggling and lots of kisses we go home. I could imagine a better dog and Barney in our family. Ralph & Alice

 Hi everyone it’s me Reggie!
First of all I want to thank everyone for helping me to get my surgery. According to my foster mother I was a hit at the hospital, I had all the nurses and doctors after me, they gave me a wonderful gift, I can see!!! They could only fix one eye but a whole world opened up to me. I could finally see my foster family, they help me to recover and took great care of me. They showed me new things like bubbles - they taste awful. Even though I was not supposed to I chase my foster brother and played ball. I think playing ball is greatest thing in the world!! I could chase that round thing all day if they let me. Guess what, other good thing happened, I was adopted. My new family came from somewhere call Wisconsin, I watched out the window all the way while being itched and petted by my new mother. When I got my new home I was greeted by two other Boston Terriers also from MBTR, they were Baxter and Sebastian. There was also another big dog named Buddy that keeps us all in line. My parents gave me lots of balls to play with, I think I can carry one with me in my mouth all the time. I have a large fenced in yard to run in and many balls to play with. My mother says I can go to bathroom on the colorful bushes she calls flowers. My parents will not let me rough house with my brothers yet, they say have to wait until the doctors tell him it's OK. I think I will show the doctor my charm and give him my special look then he will let me get my way. Everything has worked out great for me and it is all thanks to each of you, so if I could I would give you all a ball, then of course I would have to play ball with you!

We adopted Chopper through Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue in June 2007. Something about him was so striking as my husband and I looked on the website for a "forever friend" (I think it was the fact that he was wearing a leather jacket and looked super cool).
I convinced my husband that even though we lived in West Michigan, this dog was worth driving to Cleveland, Ohio. He began doubting me as we hit torrential rain storms. We could hardly see through the windshield--I begged him to keep driving. We finally made it to Chopper's foster home. There he was at the door to greet us--precious as ever. We fell in love with this little guy immediately and knew that we wanted to take him home and make him a part of our family.
We have had Chopper for a little over a year now and I thank my husband every chance I can for sticking it out through that rainstorm. Chopper is a joy that we not only get to enjoy for ourselves, but one we also get to share with so many people. I work at a nursing home and take him to work with me often. You would never believe the smiles that he brings to people's faces--people that may not have family, or people that have debilitating illnesses or cognitive impairments. Thank you MWBTR! Chopper has truly brightened our lives!

Beans is doing fabulous! He has adjusted to his new home with his new brother, Tyson, the pug. He had the nasal surgery a few months ago but still snores like a freight train. Beans loves to play fetch with the football, give lots of kisses, and loves to snuggle. He will paw at you to scratch or pet him and he will continually to paw at you until he is satisfied.
We went on vacation last week. We visited my friend and her husband at their cabin in Wisconsin. The cabin is on a lake in the middle of the wilderness. Beans had a blast! He swam in the lake, floated on the rafts, and walked up and down the banks. He was so active that Tyson and the other dog were incredibly jealous and tried following Beans' footsteps. They were not as brave as Beans but they tried. Beans definitely showed his dominance.
I also bought Beans a baby pool for home since he loves the water.
He is doing so great. He is getting lots of love and lots of attention. My husband and I are proud to be parents for him.

It has been two weeks since I arrived at my new forever home and what a time I've been having!! Me and my big brother Tank love to play together. He doesn't mind sharing his toys with me, but I'm not too sure I like sharing mine with him!! Mostly we play tag and tug of war. I like to go for walks very much. Sometimes I wear my harness and sometimes I wear my collar, but guess what??? I don't even get mad at my leash anymore!! I don't really like going into my crate when mommy goes to work and I cry for a bit, but eventually I chew on my toys and quiet down. The vet says my bum is ok now and my visit didn't hurt too badly. I sleep in bed with mom and I bury myself deep under the covers and cuddle next to her legs. She says that I'm such a little baby and we always give each other lots of hugs and kisses!! My brother Brett and my sister Alyssa just love me and we play lots too. I have an two uncles Copper (rat terrier) and Cansas (pug) who I go to camp with.
All in all, it's been a very busy couple of weeks and I think I'm finally adjusting to life up here in Canada. I already have two sweaters for when the snow comes.
Thank you so much for helping me to find my new family. Take care and hopefully mom will convince her friends to adopt some other Bostons who need loving forever homes too!!

I adopted (well she was sort of our family Christmas present but she was meant for me) Trudy in December 22, 2006 from MW at 6 months old. She is my pride and joy. She came to MW from a puppymill auction that Denise had heard about. Trudy was very sick with Giardia for several months. At one point after she came in Denise didn't think she was going to make it she got so sick. Trudy turned 2 in June 2008. I just love her to death and can't imagine my life without her. We have gone through several months of training and she recently passed the AKC CGC test. Next step will be to test for Therapy Dogs International. Everywhere we go people fall in love with Trudy. I foster for Midwest and take Trudy to meet and greets. It is Trudy that draws the people to our table. They all ask, "What about that one?" Sorry, she is mine!
Thank you MW, Thank you Denise for saving Trudy's life and bringing her into my life!

 Hello!
I am Brentley and I came to live with my new mom and dad in New York around Christmas time. I love it here! They are soooo nice to me. We go on a really long walk everyday and they let me sleep in their bed with them at night. Things are much better than they used to be, I just have to remember that the garbage is not mine to play in! And my neighbors just brought home a boston puppy for me to play with! I am hoping that mom and dad might get me my own brother or sister, but then again I dont think I can share my people just yet!
I was so lucky this summer because we went to our other house in Martha's Vineyard, MA! Mom and Dad hardly worked at all and we spent a lot of time doing things together. They took me to the beach, golfing and all over on these boats! I learned that I love to ride the jetski and to go kayaking with my new grandpa and grandma. I miss everyone from MWBTR, but I am sure happy to be here lounging in NY! Lots of my famous kisses...

Just a note to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped us get our “Snickers” (now renamed the Lady Eleanora Stanley – or Ellie for short. We adopted her during the Stanley cup & thought the title appropriate!) She has brought so much joy and light into our house! Sadly my old guy, Mugsy (almost 15) passed a couple months after Ellie joined our home, but her energy and light has made this sad time a bit easier. She absolutely enjoys everything. She loves camping, all her toys, the cats (Loki isn’t so sure that love is returned! lol), napping, her new brother Dean and of course Mom & Dad. We are amazed daily at how much love and joy she has, after her rocky start in life. She’s living proof that ATTITUDE is everything. Many, many hugs to all who work so hard to bring these little angels into our lives!
Thanks again,
Linda & Rob

Lance is happily adjusting to his new home. Our family was so happy to finally find a wonderful boston terrier that could fit into our family. He is gentle and playful with our nearly-four year old, who now wants to sleep on the floor like the dog! When the adults get up too early, Lance exits to his favorite toddler's room, which is nice and dark for another couple hours. When he's awake, Lance likes to snuffle Leighton's neck, sending him into a giggling fit. In just five days, Lance has learned to walk politely on the leash and halter, even in the presense of those pesky cats (squirrels are a different matter, of course). He thinks Jody is Mr. Wonderful, with his huge supply of tennis balls to throw. He's even met another adoptee through the same rescue, Norm, who lives on our street. Lance is a very smart little guy, who already knew several tricks before entering our home. He's currently working on "roll over" and "stay". Such a wiggly, food-motivated boston finds it hard to "stay"! His warm personality and his intelligence proves how resilient many pets can be, despite rocky early lives. We want to thank the fostering families and volunteers that made it possible for Lance to have some more chances at a forever family.
Thanks for making it possible to adopt this boy.

Here is a photo of Buster Brown in his Halloween costume. He actually seems to like it, Ok well, he likes the attention he gets from people when he wears it.
He’s taken a trip to Ohio with us to visit his “cousins” and was VERY well behaved. The Comfort Inn in Bluffton Ohio is pet friendly and he had a good time there. We just can’t believe how much he has changed our lives for the better.
Thank you for helping us find such a special little guy!
