Sassy's owner died and she was taken to the Humane society for a new home. Given Sassy's age and medical condition the Humane society was worried it would be difficult for them to find her a home so they called rescue. I had a former adopter go and get her and keep her for a week and then they brought her to me. She had tumors that we had to have removed and it was mast cell cancer. It was worrisome that she would ever find a home as people fear that word and that is understandable. I got her tumors removed and all her other medical issues addressed and took her to her new foster mom. Sassy is one of those dogs that everyone loves. She was not the prettiest boston but all her wonderful personality made her one of the most beautiful Boston's that I have ever had go through my rescue. The foster mom fell head over heals and so did her mother, whom eventually adopted her. Sassy is now living the life of Reilly in Ohio. She has been cancer free for almost a year now. These are the stories that give us all hope. Lois

My name is Debbie Maniaci and I have a success story that I would like to share. On March 12, 2001 I had to put down my beloved boxer, Sheiba. I didn't plan on getting another dog. Four months later my husband and I were starting to long for a dog to fill the void of Sheiba. After a couple of corresponding e-mails back and forth we set up an appointment for me to come out to Holland Michigan to meet Tux. He was VERY shy, hiding under a chair and refusing to come out. His foster mom, Michelle Runner, had to coax him out to meet me. He was huge, weighing 32 pounds at only 11 months old. When I brought him home, I took him out of the car and put him down in our back yard. He checked it out briefly and found a quiet place in my black-eyed susans to lie down. He didn't know what to make of the house. He didn't even know what the side door of the house was. It scared him every time we opened it. After a few days he started to figure out how things worked and decided this was a pretty nice place to stay. It's been 2 ˝ years now and I'm glad to say "Buster" is doing great. He only gained 2 pounds which is a relief to us. We were hoping he was finished growing although we weren't sure. He loves to go for walks. Going for a ride doesn't excite him very much. Were not quite sure why. Maybe he thinks were going to drop him off somewhere else. There is a saying that a bored Boston is a destructive Boston. This is true in Busters case. We have to keep him occupied or he will either unroll the toilet paper roll, pick through the trash cans, or destroy my slippers. He is very entertaining to say the least. We could not be happier. Thank you Gwen Eder for giving me the opportunity to turn a scared Boston into a very happy Boston. Debbie & Mark Maniaci St. Clair Shores Michigan Debbie & Mark Maniaci

Hi! My name is Abbey and I am 3 years old. Last May I was adopted by Kat and Jeff (the guy in the picture with me!). I knew the second I met them that they were going to be my new, forever, mom and dad and that we were going to be a very happy family together. I was right! I have never had it better. My mom is very good at spoiling me and my dad is VERY much fun to play with. I am their first little one so I get all of their attention, which I love. We do lots of fun things together. Last summer, they took me backpacking, which is fun except I had to carry my own gear! It is a good thing I do not need much! I got to meet lots of new people and bark! at all kinds of critters. We also go on trips to Grandma and Grandpa's house. They give me lots of attention and PRESENTS!! Yup! I am a spoiled little girl. But ya can't really blame them, could you deny this face? My mom and I went through 3 obedience classes together. It took a while but mom eventually took to the training! We also did agility class. It was so much fun, I am really good at that. I think we will do it again in the spring. Abbey, Kat & Jeff

My name is Patrick (AKA Bosco the deaf puppy) and I would like to thank all the nice people at MWBTR for helping me find my forever home!! I am deaf and have had a lot of homes in my 1 short year of life, that is until Cindy from Boston Terrier Rescue found me and put my cute picture on their web page. My forever family saw my picture, read my story, and decided they had to have me. After passing all the “tests” they were allowed to drive all day to Chicago from Detroit and come and meet me and bring me home. I now have 4 brothers (2 human brothers and 2 Boston brothers.) and spend all day playing and lounging in my very own pool. My new mommy loves me very much and is teaching me all kinds of hand signals so we can “talk”! She says I “listen” even better than the other two who aren’t deaf!! I think my new home is great and everyone must love me because they are always kissing me and rubbing my belly. Thanks again to MWBTR, I can not thank you enough for helping me find a family who would love me even with my deafness. My mommy says thanks, too! Keep up the good work!!!!!!!Patrick Bondy

Just wanted to drop you a line and thank you once again for Chewie. It's been almost 2 years that we have had him and are really enjoying his companionship. It has definitely been a real challenge for us learning to deal with a deaf dog. I have attached a picture of both Chewie and our 1st dog Gibson doing what they love doing (laying around). They get along well. He has been a welcome addition to our household and is loved by all. When the day comes that we are looking for another Boston I will definitely keep you in mind. Thanks again, Frazer, Charlene, Amber, Nicole, & Gibson
