Thought you'd like to see a 4th of July picture of Lil' Roscoe. He just loves dressing up and parties. He's doing great just had his yearly checkup and shots. Weighs 38 lbs and is very active. No trace of any heart murmur. He gets along really well with everyone and is still eating stuffed animals when he can sneak up on them. He's still the master of the attack smoochie, plays on his slide, in his swimming pool, and rips it up with Snuffy and the kids. He's grown into a beautiful pup!

Francis was a puppymill producer for the first 5 years of her life.
Rescue got her when the miller used her all up and had no use for her.

Ollie (fka Francis) is doing fantastically well and we already adore her completely. It's as if she knew from the very start that we were to be her family. She loves the boys and kisses them all of the time, especially when they are lying on the floor. My little one calls her name from his bed every morning instead of mine. She tired out very easily in the beginning and would sleep after only playing for a few minutes, but is getting into playing shape little by little and can now chase with the boys for longer bouts before being tuckered out. Ollie seems to love her new name, as she responds well when we call her. She is completely house trained, only having one accident on the first day. We have her on a schedule that works well for everyone. She is getting along famously with our cat, Sissy, but tends to eat her food if we don't put it up quickly enough. She has terrible gas, which cracks my kids up to no end. We think it's because she's getting used to the new Iams food we're feeding her. We have never heard anyone or anything snore the way Ollie does. We've attempted to have her sleep with us, but have been unable to have this be successful due to the amount of noise that comes from her snoring. It's amazing! She's sleeping in her crate at night for the time being and seems content to do so. We tell her to go to her house and she knows right where to go. I would say that our only problem with her thus far is that she is a bit confused about toys. Toddler toys and dog toys are often similar in size and texture, so gets confused as to what is hers. We are working to keep things we don't want chewed out of her reach. She also enjoys shredding fabric. She has shredded two blankets, two fabric-type dog toys, a sweater I've never worn and towels that she's able to jump up and grab off of their racks. We are also working with her on this. Ollie has met many of our friends and family and seems to be over her inhibitions about people. She was sitting in many laps last night and enjoyed being the center of attention. We love Ollie already and can't imagine not having her around.
We are grateful things worked out so well.

Hi. My name is Winston, affectionately also know as the "Wild Child". I recently found my forever home. I was rescued from a Columbus, OH shelter by the Midwest Boston Boston Terrier Rescue and taken to a foster home near Findlay, OH. I stayed there for a short time. They were very good to me. I was pretty thin and they started me on the road to gaining some weight. My Mom contacted MWBTR in October. She was pretty lonely, as she had unexpectedly lost her Boston, Popeye, in August. She wanted someone to help fill that void in her life. (And, boy did I ever!) Mom adopted me without even meeting me. I guess my pictures just "spoke" to her. She and my new Aunt met me and my foster family in a Kmart parking lot in Findlay one November, Saturday. I was sad to leave my foster family, but new adventures a waited. My new home has been wonderful. I receive all the love and care I could possibly want. I have so many toys that sometimes I don't know which one to play with! I have gained enough weight now to be at my normal weight and my coat has become very shiny, probably because of the daily brushing I receive. I was given all kinds of neat Christmas presents this year. Mom says I have brought a lot of joy, laughter and love back into our home. I am finally happy too.

While I know that not all rescues/adoptions work out as well as Winston's, I am very glad that I went the route of adopting a rescued dog. I did not think I could love another dog as much as my, Popeye, but Winston has shown me I can. Someone spent a lot of time training him. He is completely house broke and crate trained. He was given a clean bill of health as well as already being neutered. I have very little to do as far as his training. I am teaching him to walk nicely on a leash and to play a little less aggressively. He loves a good game of tug-a-war, but can get a little too carried away sometimes.
I have noticed that he is afraid of brooms, newspapers and loud voices. He cowers during these situations. I can only imaging what was done to him to cause this reaction now. I just need to keep this in mind around him.
Winston has brought a lot of happiness into my life. I am very glad I chose him. Or should I say, he chose me? I recommend adopting from a rescue. The dogs are so appreciative of everything you do for them and the love they give you back is immeasurable. I would like to thank MWBTR for bringing Winston and me together. When I think what could have happened to Winston if they had not rescued him from the shelter…Well, it just makes me shutter.

Charlie Brown joined our family on Friday 3/28/03. Having lost our neighbors and doggie walkers for our 2 year old Tootsie Roll...we knew it was time to seriously consider a second Boston Terrier. My family had always adopted dogs so we were interested in pursuing this avenue. I checked the Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue site periodically. But none of the dogs seemed a good fit. We needed a dog that was good with other dogs and good with kids. I found Charlie's picture and description on Wed 3/19. I shared all the info with my husband John and we reviewed the pros and cons for the next two days. We decided to go for it and filled out the application and emailed it to Cindy by Friday. Saturday morning, my husband called all excited that we had had a call from Charlie Brown's foster mom. A meeting was set with us and Tootsie to meet Charlie that evening at Oak Brook mall.
Tootsie wasn't sure what to make of Charlie. He tried to kiss her right away. We all took turns holding the two dogs and John covered up Charlie with his sweatshirt to protect him from the cold. Other families wanted this little guy...we felt if someone with an enclosed yard and kids, etc got him, we would understand.
We got the call from Cindy the next evening -- he was ours if we still wanted him. It was so thrilling. This sad eyed thin but very handsome boy was joining our family.
Tootsie and Charlie became fast friends and partners in crime. They have gone thru many an area rug and comfy doggie beds -- great items for tug of war!! So their daytime bedding are big towels I get on sale and an automotive thick rubber 5' x 5' floor mat.
Their personalities compliment eachother -- Tootsie is quite vocal and will play till she drops. Charlie is a mellow boy but gives her a run for her money. There is a terrific balance of respect between the two of them. He respects that she was there first and she respects that fact that he's now got 6 pounds on her.
We are expecting our first child this March...all our babies will be March ones...Charlie B. -- March 1st, Tootsie Roll -- March 31st and our baby to be due around March 7th. We are not concerned about our doggies and the new addition. We bring them around kids and they do great. It'll be nice to introduce our kid to the doggie park -- Charlie's favorite.
Anyone we meet with one Boston Terrier -- we highly recommend getting a second one...and rescuing one if possible. They are the light of our days and the laughter in our hearts.

This sweet old girl was found starving and freezing to death in a field in Azalia, Michigan. The wonderful couple who found her were unable to keep her and contacted us to take her in. Her emaciation was so severe her body had gone into feeding off the muscle mass, she weighed just under 9 pounds. She was so weak that she could not hold herself up to walk around and had the most severe diarrhea I had ever seen, I was afraid she would not make it to the next day. But she had the heart and will of a true Boston Terrier, looked at me with those trusting wise old eyes and licked my face telling me everything was going to be ok. I believe willpower alone had kept her alive this long and we wanted to give her every chance at a full and happy new life. We called her Granny, gave her plenty of TLC, good vet care, a low-residue diet and watched her bloom before our eyes! There were times we did not think she would make it and it was a slow road to recovery...
but look at her now!!

She was adopted by the Balanowski family, who just fell in love with her and she went to them weighing a whopping 15 pounds! They named her Olive Oyl and continued nursing her back to health. She has a brother Popeye to play with too!

She is one pretty Boston girl dog! For those of you who know what she looked like when she was found five weeks ago, the change is amazing! She plays and has energy. She eats well, behaves nicely, puts up with Popeye :), has still never barked, and is really a sweet girl! She has mastered the doggy door. Learned the rules we have in the house and puts up with Popeye :). Actually she and Popeye get along fine, we haven't had one problem since they've been together. I think, in time, she will learn how to play with Popeye but for right now they are content to sleep and eat with each other.
