ADDISON HW+, Mange & Expecting!!
First we found out Addison had hook worms, tape worms, and round worms, then the devastating news that she was also heart worm positive, and the skin condition is indeed demodectic mange. Unfortunately, the mange and the heart worm can not be treated while Addison is pregnant or nursing so it will need to be treated once the puppies are weaned. For now the plan is to get through the next week until she is ready to deliver her puppies we will be treating her itchy skin with baths and taking care of some of the worms that we can treat. There are 5 (maybe 6 puppies) in Miss Addie and due to her conditions it is very possible she may have to have a c-section and our wonderful vets here have offered to do so even if its in the middle of the night. It will be a long road to recovery for Addie but we will do our best to get her in tip top shape as soon as we are able. Addie is a wonderful little girl, she has made friends with everyone she has met even the vet. She follows her human foster sister who is 7 everywhere and gives her kisses and wags her tail. She does not have a mean bone in her body and is incredibly gentle taking dog treats with a very delicate touch. It is very easy to get lost in her big brown eyes and now that she has had her first bath her coat looks 100% better. Please stay tuned for more Addie updates! We are in desperate need for donations for Addie as the whole process is going to be expensive. MORE INFO
